Marian women’s bowling opens season with split-squad weekend

Marian University women’s bowling opened its season with a split-squad weekend at the UWW Warhawk Classic and the first GLBC event.

UWW WARHAWK CLASSIC

  • Marian showed consistency in Baker play to open the weekend with a high game of 907 and a low game of 802.
  • This put the Sabres at a 170.5 average and in seventh place to open the event.
  • Marian nearly had the same score in traditional play after opening with an 873 and 867.
  • This gave Marian the No. 8 seed for bracket play where Marian was defeated by Belmont Abbey in four games to open.
  • The Sabres bounced back nicely, however, defeating Quincy in six games.
  • Marian had two games with more than 200 pins in the victory.
  • The final match of the weekend saw Marian get its revenge on Belmont Abbey with a win in seven games.

GLBC EVENT No. 1

  • The second Marian squad opened GLBC play with a total of 3,631 in traditional play to open in fifth.
  • A highly contested day of Baker play saw Marian finish with the fourth-best total at 2,332.
  • The Sabres still finished in fifth and were just 37 pins away from 6,000 total pins for the event.

Delanie Vogt finished 19th at the UWW Warhawk Classic with a 168.8 average.  She had a high game of 200.
Katie Bialke had a 172.0 average over four games at the UWW Warhawk Classic.
Sakinah Thomas had a 155.6 average to finish 14th and led the Sabres at the first GLBC event.
