Marian women’s bowling enjoys success at pair of events

Marian University women’s bowling finished eighth at the Bearcat Invite and second at the UWO Titan Invite.

BEARCAT INVITE

  • A strong finish to Baker play saw Marian open the event in eighth at 4,727 pins.
  • Marian averaged 990.7 over the final three games  including a win over No. 13 UW-Whitewater.
  • Traditional play saw Marian slip to ninth at 4,384 pins.
  • The best traditional game for the Sabres came in a 958-930 win over No. 10 Maryville.
  • The return to Baker saw Marian defeat the Warhawks for a second time in five games.
  • The Sabres took the final four games of the match including games of 247 and a victory-clinching 243.
  • Marian then defeated No. 24 Oklahoma Christian in six games.
  • The final match saw Marian narrowly edged by Newman, who is receiving votes in the national poll, in seven games.
  • Marian opened the match with a 244 and fell by only four pins in the final game.

UWO INVITE

  • Marian had a strong finish to traditional play to finish at 3,910 pins and open the event in fourth.
  • Marian finished traditional play with 845 and 835 pins in the final two games.
  • Similarly, the Sabres had the fourth-best Baker total at 2,397 pins to earn the No. 4 seed for bracket play.
  • The Sabres had a high game of 211 during Baker play.
  • Marian opened bracket play with an upset of top-seeded Wisconsin before falling to UW-Oshkosh in the championship.

Delanie Vogt finished third at the Bearcat Invite with an average of 207.6.  She had at least 210 in all four games.
Brianna Clemons averaged 179.8 to place 32nd at the Bearcat Invite.  She opened with a 223.
Abigail Oldenhoff led Marian at the UWO Invite finishing sixth with an average of 175.8.
