MATCH 1 (No. 3 YOUNGSTOWN STATE)

  • Marian hung tough with the top team of the Lansing Regional, No. 3 Youngstown State, only falling 900-830 in the traditional play.
  • The Sabres played with the Penguins but a tough 10th frame saw Marian finish with only 74 pins.
  • Marian had a quick start in the Baker total pinfall defeating the Penguins in game one to take a 20-pin advantage.
  • The Sabres still held a lead after the second game, but a strong third game saw Youngstown State take the lead for good.
  • The Penguins would go on to secure a sweep with a 975-929 victory.

MATCH 2 (No. 6 NEBRASKA)

  • Marian bowled a better traditional game against the Huskers but Nebraska had a big match to defeat the Sabres 1,032-872.

  • Marian was able to cut that deficit down to 44 pins after winning the fourth game 203-148.
  • The Sabre rally would come up short, however, after Nebraska won the final Baker game to put the final at 899-843.
