Marian women’s bowling competes in final tune-up

Marian University women’s bowling 21st at the Music City Classic, its final tune-up before the CCIW Tournament.

  • Marian opened the event in 20th after Baker play going 3-2 with a 178.2 average.
  • After dropping the first two matches of the day, Marian bounced back with wins over No. 17 McKendree, Belmont Abbey, and William Smith.
  • The Sabres slid a couple spots after traditional play to place 22nd with a 175.1 average in total.
  • Marian was 4-2 in its traditional matches with wins over Aurora, Lewis, No. 21 Wright State, and Indianapolis.
  • The opening of bracket play saw Marian defeat Alabama A&M in a four-game sweep.
  • The Sabres closed out the match with games of 208 and 200.
  • Marian then closed out bracket play with another convincing win defeating Jackson State 4-1.
  • The high game for the Sabres against Jackson State was a 229.

Senior Jocelynn Eggert ld Marian finishing 72nd with a 178.0 average.  She finished traditional play with a 209.
Senior Brenna Schiekiera was only two spots behind Eggert with a 177.0 average.  She had a high game of 201.
A tough final two games held sophomore Abby Giddings o a 164.2 average to finish 93rd.
