Marian women’s basketball falls at home to CUW

Marian University women’s basketball (3-9, 1-2 NACC) was defeated by Concordia Wisonsin 78-55 at home.

  • The Sabres had a strong start and opened with a 9-4 lead.  
  • Marian led for most of the opening quarter out to a 14-13 advantage with 3:22 left.
  • The Falcons then scored six unanswered to lead 19-14 at the first stoppage.
  • CUW used that momentum to open the second quarter with a 15-3 spurt to lead 34-17.
  • The Falcons went into halftime leading 38-23.
  • Marian battled back to open the second half and only trailed 42-32 with 5:32 left in the third quarter.
  • This would be as close as Marian managed, however, as CUW extended its lead to 56-38 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • CUW narrowly edged Marian in the final quarter by a 19-17 tally to put the final at 78-55.

  • Marian finished 19-of-57 (.333) from the field and 8-of-29 (.276) on three-pointers.
  • The Falcons shot 27-of-59 (.458) and 7-of-17 (.412) from beyond the arc.
  • CUW finished with a 34-20 advantage in the paint.
  • Marian is now 14-53 all-time against CUW.
