Marian women’s basketball drops low-scoring affair

Marian University women’s basketball (1-14, 1-7 NACC) had a rough shooting night, going 17-of-58 (.293) in a 57-43 loss at Lakeland.

  • Both teams struggled early. Marian went 4-of-20 (.200), and Lakeland went nearly seven minutes without a basket. 
  • Freshman Cassandra Arndt scored a jumper at the buzzer as Marian trailed by one entering the second quarter. 
  • Shooting woes continued into the second quarter for both teams. Lakeland went just 3-of-20 (.150) in the quarter, finishing 6-of-31 (.193) for the half. 
  • Senior Ryleigh Woodson made her 2025-26 debut and scored her first points with a second-chance layup.

  • King’s layup finally ended a 12-0 Muskie run, snapping Marian’s seven-minute scoring drought that extended into the fourth quarter.
  • Arndt’s three trimmed the deficit to single digits, but Lakeland pulled away for a 57-43 victory, leading by as many as 17 in the final minutes.
