Marian University women’s basketball (0-3, 0-0 NACC) closed their Midway Classic Tournament weekend with an 84-51 loss to Tufts. 
 

• It was another slow start for the Sabres, who scored their first basket at the 6:40 mark in the first quarter with layup from freshman Holly Goodwin making it 6-2. 
• A tip-in layup from senior Chelsea King tied the game at 6-6. Shortly after, two free-throws from freshman Cassandra Arndt gave the Sabres their final tie of the game at 10 each.
• Early in the second quarter, the Jumbos rallied off eight unanswered points before a three-pointer from freshman Ava Kreger made it 30-17. Marian made three of their five 3-pointers in the second. 
• Neither team scored in the final three minutes, as the Sabres went into the break down twelve, 39-27. 
• Tufts started the second half on a 12-0 run to extend their lead to 24. Marian responded with a 8-2 run to trim the lead to 18, capped by Kreger’s third 3-pointer of the night.
• The Sabres kept their deficit around 20 for most of the second half, but were held without a field goal in the final eight minutes. The Jumbos scored the final 12 points of the game and came away with the victory. 

• The Sabres shot well from the free throw line, going 20-for-24 on the evening. 
• Marian never led in the contest. They held three ties in the first quarter, but Tufts led for 39 minutes of competition.
• It was another strong night for the Marian bench unit with 26 bench points, led by Kreger’s 14.
• Tufts held a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.
• It was the second match-up in series history between the Sabres and the Jumbos, with Tufts taking the previous meeting in 2001, a 54-53 final.

	Freshman Ava Kreger led the Sabres with 14 points and three 3-pointers.
	Sophomore Nyedeng Awak grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.
	Junior Taj Hanserd went 6-6 from the free-throw line; shooting a perfect 9-9 from the line so far this season.
