Marian University women’s basketball (2-9, 0-2 NACC) was defeated 68-54 by UW-La Crosse to close out the Superior Shootout Holiday Classic.
 

• UW-La Crosse took an early 9-4 lead only to have Marian climb back and tie the game at 11-11.
• The Eagles were able to take the lead heading into the second quarter after scoring four unanswered points to end the quarter.
• Using that momentum, UWL opened the second quarter on an 8-4 run to lead by eight.
• The Eagles pushed their lead to as large as 14 and went into halftime leading 36-24.
• UW-La Crosse continued to pull away and led by as much as 49-26 with 4:18 left in the third period.
• Marian was able to outscore UW-La Crosse 17-15 in the final quarter but the final closed at 68-54.

• The Sabres shot 21-of-58 (.362) from the field and hit just two three-pointers on 13 attempts.
• UW-La Crosse was 27-of-70 (.386) for the game and 11-of-35 (.314) on three-pointers.
• The Sabres committed 21 turnovers and UWL outscored the Sabres 22-7 in points off turnovers.
• Marian held a 24-18 edge for points in the paint.
• The Sabres have now lost all six match-ups against UW-La Crosse in the all-time series.

	Sophomore Kiara Williams had a career-high 28 points to go with 17 rebounds for her eight double-double.
	Sophomore Ryleigh Woodson scored seven points and four rebounds.
	Junior Lexi Brakebush added five points and had three steals.
