Marian Women Boast Highest Finish Ever in NACC All-Sports Standings

The Marian University women’s athletic programs earned its highest finish in the NACC All-Sports standings taking sixth place.

The NACC awards points for each sport’s finish in the regular-season conference standings and in conference tournament finishes to calculate the All-Sports awards. The women’s standings use a 17-point base while the men’s standings use a 16-point base. The Sabres finished sixth in the conference with 63.5 points for an average index of 9.071.

The Marian golf team led the way for the Sabres earning 15 points after finishing second at the NACC Championship. Freshman Yinan Lu also became the first medalist in program history to lead the way for Marian. The Marian soccer program had a solid season finishing third in the NACC to earn Marian another 13 points. Marian went on to host and win a NACC Tournament game for the first time since 2013 in the campaign. Also earning double-digit points for Marian was the Sabre lacrosse program who collected 10 points after earning a spot in the NACC Tournament for a second straight season.

The softball and volleyball program were also participants in the NACC Tournament this season with softball earning 9.5 points for its efforts and women’s volleyball taking 8.5 points. Basketball and tennis rounded out the sports collecting points for Marian with 4.5 and three points, respectively.

The NACC completed its 18th season of competition in spring of 2024. The NACC consists of 14 colleges and universities from the shared-border states of Illinois and Wisconsin. Member schools include: Alverno College, Aurora University, Benedictine University, Concordia University Chicago, Concordia University Wisconsin, Dominican University, Edgewood College, Illinois Institute of Technology, Lakeland University, Marian University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Rockford University, St. Norbert Ciollege and Wisconsin Lutheran College. The NACC sponsors 19 sports. Men’s teams include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field and volleyball. Women’s squads are fielded in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and volleyball.
