Marian University offers new certificate in Professional Communication andPublic Relations for Educators

Equipping teachers with essential communication and PR skills to strengthen school-community engagement.

Effective communication in schools is more important than ever. To meet this need, Marian University has launched a fully online, 9-credit Certificate in Professional Communication and Public Relations for Education. The program consists of three seven-week courses designed to help pre-K–12 leaders and administrators build essential communication and PR skills.

Participants will learn how to communicate with confidence, apply practical strategies immediately, strengthen community trust, and enhance their professional credentials—especially valuable for principals, administrators, and those on the superintendent track.

Courses are taught by Dorreen Dembski, an expert in strategic communication for educational and nonprofit organizations.

“In today’s evolving educational environment, effective communication is no longer just about sharing information – it’s about building relationships, fostering trust, and proactively telling the story of our schools,” Dembski said. “This is a practical program intended to help educational leaders to navigate organizational communication with clarity and confidence.”

Enrollment is now open for January (2026).
