Marian University Celebrates Faculty and Staff Anniversaries, Awards

Marian University celebrated the outstanding achievements and milestones of its faculty and staff at the annual 2025 Faculty and Staff Recognition Luncheon.  Awards were given for Academic Advising Excellence, Staff of the Year, along with Faculty of the Year and honors for adjunct, graduate, and undergraduate teaching.

Faculty members achieving Bronze, Silver, and Gold Level Service Award distinctions for were also recognized for their continued commitment to excellence in teaching and service.  Additionally, employees were recognized for significant work anniversaries, ranging from 5 to 30 years.  Those retiring this year were also honored.

The 2025 Faculty and Staff Award Recipients and Honorees:

  • Academic Advising Excellence Award: Kelli Wege, Academic Advisor
  • Sister Marie Scott Award: Stephanie Carpenter, Director of Student Involvement
  • Staff of the Year Award: Severa Krueger, Assistant Dean of Student Life & Engagement/Director of Residence Life
  • Adjunct Faculty of the Year: Thomas Varebrook, Professor of Criminal Justice
  • Graduate Teacher of the Year: Dr. Korie Leigh, Thanatology Program Director
  • Bronze Level Faculty Service Award (90 undergraduate and/or 120 undergraduate credits): Lora Vahlsing, Art; Mark Lafrenz, Philosophy; Tony Draves, Psychology
  • Silver Level Faculty Service Award (180 undergraduate and/or 240 undergraduate credits): Jennifer Tolman, Foreign Language
  • Gold Level Faculty Service Award (270 undergraduate and/or 360 undergraduate credits): Teri Passow, Internship
