GAME 1

  • The Sabres wasted no time jumping ahead of the Warriors scoring five runs in the first inning.
  • Sophomore Ariana Schliepp opened the scoring with a two-run homer.
  • A run-producing single from senior Evelynn Spaeth in the second put the Sabres ahead 6-0.
  • Marian continued to score with three Sabres driving in a run in the third to put MU ahead 9-0.
  • This was more than enough for senior Cailie Pliner (6-9) who allowed just one hit in the complete-game victory.

GAME 2

  • The Warriors would take their first lead of the day to open game two with a run in the second.
  • The Sabres immediately answered with sophomore Abigail Schreiber and freshman Erin Cowe driving in a run to take a 2-1 lead.
  • The Sabre lead didn’t last long, however, as WLC responded with two runs in the next half inning to lead 3-2.
  • A solo home run from Schliepp in the bottom half of the third would tie the game at 3-3.
  • This knotted game held until the sixth where Marian was able to break the game open with five runs.
  • Cowe would drive in the game-winning run before three more Sabres drove in a run to clinch the 8-3 win.
