Marian NCAA men’s hockey shuts out CUW for crucial points

Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (9-14-0, 4-9-1-2 NCHA) earned a crucial three points behind a 4-0 shutout of Concordia Wisconsin.

  • Neither offense could find a groove early and it wouldn’t be until 3:27 remained in the first period before senior Adam Nobes lit the lamp to open the scoring.
  • This 1-0 tally held going into the second period.
  • It was another late score in the second with senior Jordan Simoneau scoring his fifth of the season with 1:55 left in the period to put Marian ahead 2-0.
  • Nobes would net his second of the game with 8:01 left in the third period to give the Sabres a three-goal cushion.
  • Freshman Cole Carlson iced the game with an empty-net score in the final minute.

  • Marian outshot CUW 21-12 in the second period but the Falcons had a 37-34 advantage for the game.
  • CUW was scoreless on three power-play chances, while Marian had just one but couldn’t light the lamp.
  • The Sabres had a hefty advantage on face offs by a 33-23 margin.

Freshman Andreai Proctor-Ramirez (1-4-0) earned his first collegiate win and shutout stopping all 37 shots he saw.
Freshman Cole Carlson had his fourth multi-point effort with a goal and an assist.
