Marian NCAA men’s hockey rallies to move up in final standings

Marian University NCAA men’s ice hockey (9-14-2, 8-10-0 NCHA) scored four unanswered goals to defeat CUW 4-2 and earn the No. 6 seed for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs.

  • Concordia Wisconsin was on the board first scoring on the final second of a power play at the 7:04 mark of the first period.
  • The Falcons took a 2-0 lead into the second period after scoring with 2:36 on the clock.
  • Marian saw junior Caden Carlson score its first goal of the game, assists to senior Noah Pickart and junior Cole Carlson, with just 3:14 left in the second period.
  • Sophomore Brady Brenner then tied the game at the 7:23 mark with help from juinor Robert Pizzey and freshman Daxton Lang.
  • Just 2:01 later, Marian took its first lead of the game when senior Quinn Mulder buried the puck, assists to senior Alex Enegren and freshman Andrew Seminara.
  • Marian was able to ice the game in the final seconds with an empty-net goal from freshman Andrew Politoski, assist to Carlson, Ca.

  • The Sabres finished with a 43-27 advantage in draws.
  • CUW finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-2.
  • The five-point weekend led Marian to the No. 6 seed for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs.
  • Marian is 34-8-1 all-time against CUW with this being the first two-victory weekend since 2021.
