Marian NCAA men’s hockey has strong special-teams game

Marian University NCAA men’s ice hockey  (0-5-1, 0-4-0 NCHA) suffered a sweep against No. 4/4 St. Norbert falling 6-2.

  • The Green Knights scored a pair of goals separated by just 2:10 to take a quick 2-0 lead in the first period.
  • St. Norbert was able to add to its lead with 4:45 left in the second period.
  • Marian showed life scoring a power-play goal with 1:04 left in the stanza.
  • Junior Nolan Flint scored the goal with assist from senior Noah Pickart and junior Cole Carlson to put the Sabres down 3-1 going into the third period.
  • St. Norbert needed just 1:50 to make the game a three-goal game again and took a 5-1 lead at the 8:07 mark.
  • A second Sabre power-play goal came from sophomore Eemil Rautio with 9:17 left to play, assists to sophomore Brendan Bottem and Pickart.
  • St. Norbert was able to ice the game and put the final at 6-2 with an empty-net goal with 1:40 remaining.
