Marian University men’s volleyball (3-4, 0-0 NACC) finished the Sabre Invite 3-0 with victories over Olivet and Viterbo.
 

 VS. OLIVET (W, 3-0, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17)

• Marian dominated on both sides of the ball to easily take the opening set. 
• The Sabres held an 11-9 lead before going on a 10-2 run to build its lead to 10.
• Marian was able to then put the set away with a 4-1 spurt.
• The second set was a closer affair with Olivet opening with a 17-16 lead.
• A 6-2 run from the Sabres gave Marian a three-point lead which proved to be enough to go ahead 2-0.
• Marian was able to open the third set with a 13-5 lead and never looked back earning its second straight sweep.

VS. VITERBO (W, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 27-25)

• After a 6-6 opening, Marian was able to find its groove going on an 8-2 run to lead 14-8.
• Viterbo was able to cut that deficit down to 18-16 before the Sabres ended the set strong with a 7-3 spurt.
• The V-Hawks jumped on the Sabres and led 5-1 to begin the second set.
• Marian was able to tie th set at 9-9 before Viterbo pulled away with a 7-2 run.
• The Sabres battled back to tie the set at 17-17 before the V-Hawks scored the next three points to take the lead for good.
• Marian bounced back nicely beginning th third with a 9-3 lead.
• The V-Hawks managed to trim their deficit to one but Marian was able to pull away with a 7-2 run shortly after.
• The fourth set went back-and-forth eventually leading to a 23-23 stalemate.
• Marian was then turned away twice on match-point but recorded two blocks to create and convert the third match-point chance.

VS. OLIVET

• Marian had a 29-24 advantage in kills and dominated in the back row with 32 digs to only 20 for the Comets.
• The Sabres were able to hit .313 in the opening set and then .350 in the third set.
• Defensively, Marian held Olivet to a .024 hitting percentage including an opening set where the Comets had a negative attack percentage.
• Marian is now 5-0 all-time against the Comets having dropped only two sets.

VS. VITERBO

• The Sabres had a 57-45 edge in kills and a 49-42 advantage for digs.
• The Sabres had a strong match at the service line with seven aces.
• Marian had at least 12 kills in each set and hit .248 in the victory.
• This was the first meeting between the two programs.

	Sophomore Adrian Calderon had 19 kills between the two matches posting a double-double against Viterbo.
	Freshman Denuate Baribefee had 11 kills and three assisted blocks against Viterbo.
	Senior CJ Kendrick had a career-high 17 digs against the V-Hawks.
