Marian University men’s volleyball (7-17, 3-9 NACC) closed out its season with a 27-25, 14-25, 25-20, 25-23 win over Concordia Chicago.
- Concordia Chicago scored the first six points of the match but five unanswered points from Marian later in the set put the Sabres ahead 16-15.
- Marian continued to push and eventually led 24-20.
- Concordia Chicago was able to tie the set at 24-24 but Marian was able to hold off the rally shortly after with back-to-back kills.
- The Sabres started the second set down only 14-11 before the Cougars finished the set with an 11-3 spurt.
- Marian bounced back nicely, however, opening the third set with the lead and gradually expanded it out to 17-11.
- Concordia Chicago cut the deficit down to two at 19-17 before Marian took a 2-1 lead with a 6-3 run.
- Similarly to the first set, Concordia Chicago opened the fourth ahead 8-3.
- Marian chipped away at the deficit and four unanswered points later in the set tied things at 19-19.
- The Cougars held a 22-21 lead but Marian scored four of the final five points to secure the win.
- The Cougars held a 47-43 advantage in kills and an 8-2 edge for aces in the match.
- The Sabre back row managed a 76-67 edge in digs.
- Marian improves to 8-1 all-time against Concordia Chicago with six straight wins.
- This is the third straight season Marian has finished the regular season with a win over the Cougars.
