Marian University men’s volleyball (1-4, 0-0 NACC) earned its first win of the season defeating Westminster, who is receiving votes in the national poll, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24.
- The largest lead for most of the opening set was only two points before an 8-4 run put the Sabres ahead 20-16.
- The Blue Jays rallied to tie the set at 21-21 but Marian was able to score four of the final five points to take the opening set.
- The second set opened at a 6-6 stalemate before the Blue Jays jumped ahead 13-9.
- Marian was able to quickly rally going on a run of 8-3 to take a 17-16 lead.
- Westminster rebounded retaking the lead at 20-18 before a dominating finish gave Marian a 2-0 advantage.
- The Sabres were able to finish the set with an 8-1 spurt highlighted by two kills and two aces from senior Trent Goo Sun.
- Marian held a 9-6 lead to start the third but the Blue Jays managed seven straight points to lead 13-9.
- The Sabres chipped away and trailed 18-16 before scoring four straight to lead by two.
- The two sides eventually found themselves tied at 23-23 with a service error giving Marian a match-point.
- The Sabres were turned away on the first match-point but converted the second to earn a sweep.
