Marian men’s soccer drops nail biter at UWW to open season

Marian University men’s soccer (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) dropped a 1-0 nail biter to UW-Whitewater to open the season.

  • The opening half was extremely even with neither team managing to find the back of the net.
  • UW-Whitewater was able to take control to open the second half despite drawing a pair of yellow cards.
  • The Warhawks were able to break the scoreless tie at the 75:52 mark.
  • Marian was able to create a solid opportunity and corner kick in the final minute but were unable to find the equalizer.

  • Marian did finish the game with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks saw UWW hold a 12-6 edge, while fouls were even at 12-11 with the Warhawks committing more fouls.

Senior Aden Jerome (0-1-0) made four saves with three of his stops coming in the first half.
Senior Drew Cowden paced the offense with three shots that were all on goal.
Freshman Ved Asur came off the bench to record a shot in the final minute of the game.
