Marian men’s lacrosse rolls past Beloit

Marian University men’s lacrosse (2-7, 1-3 NACC) earned its first conference win of the season defeating Beloit 17-9.

  • The two squads would trade a pair of goals to open the game and 4:36 on the clock.
  • Graduate student Erik Horman scored both Marian goals to become the all-time leader for points scored in Sabre history.
  • Marian had a strong finish to the quarter scoring three goals in the final 4:19 to take a 5-2 lead.
  • A late Beloit score with just two seconds left put the score at 5-3.
  • A pair of goals from junior Serge Simard opened the second quarter adn put Marian ahead 7-3.
  • After a Buccaneer man-up goal with 1:07 left, junior Trevor Stachowski would score with an assist from Simard to put Marian ahead 8-4 at halftime.
  • Beloit would score the first three goals of the third quarter to only trail 8-7.
  • A timeout from Marian helped change the momentum as the Sabres scored the final three goals of the quarter to take a 12-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • The two squads would once again trade goals to open the fourth quarter.
  • Marian then put the game away scoring the final four goals of the game to put the final at 17-9.

  • Beloit had a small 39-38 edge in ground balls, but Marian easily won the turnover battle 26-14.
  • The Buccaneers won 22 of the 27 face offs.

Junior Serge Simard had a season-best eight goals and had 11 points to lead the offense.
Graduate student Erik Horman had six goals and an assist to become the all-time leader for points scored in Marian history.
