Marian men’s lacrosse drops season opener to Alma

Freshman Franklin Lund scored all three goals for Marian University men’s lacrosse (0-1, 0-0 NACC), but the Sabres fell to Alma, 8-3, in their season opener.

  • Alma jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, with three different Scots scoring unassisted goals. 
  • Freshman Franklin Lund got the Sabres on the board with 9:57 remaining in the second quarter, assisted by sophomore Andrew Nesbitt.
  • After Alma scored the first two goals of the third quarter, Lund added a goal off an assist from sophomore Jack Moody
  • Alma outshot the Sabres 10-2 in the third quarter. 
  • The Scots netted three more goals in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 8-2 with 12 minutes remaining. 
  • Lund completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal with 10:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Marian was unable to close the gap.
