Marian men’s bowling places second at Warhawk Open

Marian University men’s bowling finished second at the Warhawk Open in a field of 21 teams.

  • Marian opened with 4,991 pins in traditional play followed by 3,334 in Baker format to finish with 8,325 and a fifth-place finish for pin total.
  • This earned Marian a spot in bracket play as the No. 6 seed where the Sabres opened with a 244-188, 177-204, 192-177 win over St. Xavier.
  • Marian then swept second-seeded Calumet behind strong games of 213 and 247.
  • In the championship match, the Sabres took on fifth-seeded St. Ambrose but were swept 269-206, 224-186.
  • Mount Mercy finished with the highest pin fall during regulation play at 8,966.

Junior Jaysen Spanbauer finished in seventh as an individual with an average of 220.8.  He had two games with more than 240 pins and a high game of 257.
Senior Rory Clark averaged 199.8 to place 30th.  He had a high game of 245.
Senior Ryan Dreikosen took 98th-place after averaging 211.5 over four games.  His final three games saw him record at least 215 pins.
