Marian men’s bowling dominates first GLBC event

Marian University men’s bowling dominated the opening event of GLBC play taking first by 648 pins.

  • The Sabres had a slow start to open play with just a 964 in the first traditional game, but Marian bounced back finishing above 1,000 for the final four games.
  • Marian had an especially dominant third game finishing at 1,253 pins where all five Sabres had at least 224 pins.
  • Baker play started similarly for Marian with the Sabres only averaging 186.5 pins over the first set.
  • Just like the opening day, however, Marian bounced back nicely averaging at least 218 pins over the final three sets.
  • The second set saw Marian average 233.25 pins where Marian had three games above 200 pins.  The third game in the set saw Marian bowl a tournament-best 289.
  • The 8,772 total pins, 213.95 average, was good for first by 648 pins over UW-Whitewater.
  • The Sabre junior varsity team was also able to finish second in the junior varsity standings at 7,309.

Ryan Dreikosen won the event with his average of 228.2 over five games.  Dreikosen had at last 214 pins in four games with a high of 279.
Jaysen Spanbauer earned a fifth-place finish with a 219.2 average.  Spanbauer also had at least 214 pins in four games with a high of 267.
Rory Clark finished in eighth after averaging 213.4 pins.  Clark had four games with at least 200 pins and a high game of 235.
