Marian men’s basketball picked seventh in NACC preseason poll

Marian University men’s basketball received 167 points to finish seventh in the NACC preseason poll.

Concordia Wisconsin finished atop the preseason poll at 305 points but only received eight of the first-place votes.  Just three points behind the Falcons was MSOE with the Raiders earning the most first-place votes with 10.  St. Norbert wasn’t far off the pace at 295 points and four first-place tallies, and Wisconsin Lutheran grabbed the final four first-place votes and 277 points.  Aurora was the final school with more than 200 points finishing fifth at 204.

Benedictine and Marian were then separated by just 11 points with Rockford rounding out the preseason NACC Tournament picks at 159.  Just on the outside was Concordia Chicago at 154 followed by Lakeland at 132.  Edgewood, Dominican, and Illinois Tech rounded out the preseason poll.

The team with the best record in the regular season will be crowned the conference champion with the top eight teams qualifying for the NACC Tournament.  The winner of the NACC Tournament will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Marian opens the season at the NBC Tip-Off Classic taking on host UW-Superior Saturday, November 8 at 5 p.m.
