An 8-2 run down the stretch lifted Marian University men’s basketball (6-3, 3-1 NACC) past Beloit, 63-51, in a physical contest.
 

• Marian opened the game on a 10-3 run, with a different Sabre scoring each of the first six field goals.
• Junior Fredrick Ware Jr. was the first Sabre to score twice, as his layup gave Marian a nine-point lead at the 9:31 mark of the first half.
• After nearly three minutes of scoreless basketball, senior Jazz Orozco ended the drought with a fast-break layup, keeping the Sabres up nine.
• In the final seconds before halftime, Beloit’s Lathan Lewis hit a three-pointer, leaving Marian with a 29-23 lead.
• Senior Alex Vassilakis scored an and-one layup to start the second half, giving the Sabres a double-digit lead for the first time.
• Marian took its largest lead of the night on a three-pointer from senior Derek Lindert, who hit three triples in the second half, extending the margin to 13.
• Beloit clawed back with a 13-5 run over seven minutes, cutting their deficit to five with six minutes remaining.
• Marian responded with an 8-2 run to close out the game, pushing the lead back into double figures. 
• Freshman Marvin Haslett punctuated the win with a fast-break dunk, sealing the Sabres’ 63-51 victory.

• Marian held Beloit to 2-of-17 (.118) shooting from three, including 0-of-7 (.000) in the second half. Beloit’s two three-pointers are the lowest total by a Marian opponent this season. 
• The Sabres shot a season-low 50% from the free-throw line (8-of-16). 
• The Sabres’ defense created 18 turnovers, which led to 28 points.
• Beloit led only once in the contest, as Marian held the lead for the final 36 minutes.
• Today’s game marked the 17th all-time meeting between the Sabres and Buccaneers, with Beloit leading the series 10-7.
• The Sabres have won three in a row against Beloit, their longest winning streak in the series. 

	Senior Derek Lindert led the Sabres with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers.
	Junior Andrew Ayeni finished with nine points, five rebounds, and three steals.
	Senior Alex Vassilakis grabbed 10 rebounds, marking his fourth double-digit rebounding effort of the season.
