Marian men’s and women’s bowling each finish sixth at USBC ITC Sectionals

The Marian University men’s and women’s bowling programs each finished in sixth place at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectionals.

MEN

  • The Sabre men fell just short of 13,000 pins finishing with 12,970 over the 64 games, 202.7 average, to take sixth.
  • Marian had a slow start with a 3,030 in th first block to open the event in 11th.
  • The Sabres then had the best block for the entire event in the second session finishing with a 3,515.
  • This propelled Marian to third place, but the Sabres would fall to seventh after a 3,112 in the third block.
  • A solid bounce-back effort in the fourth block saw Marian climb to finish sixth with a 3,313.

WOMEN

  • The Marian women finished with 12,027 pins over the 64 games to also finish sixth, 187.9 average.
  • The Sabre women also had a slow start opening in 10th after the first block with a 2,933.
  • Marian would only climb in the standings and posted their best block in the second session with a 3,109.
  • This put Marian in seventh, but the Sabres would climb to sixth after a 2,922 in the third block.
  • The final block saw the Sabres maintain its sixth-place finish with a 3,063.

Jaysen Spanbauer became the first male in Marian bowling history to qualify for the ISC National Championship after averaging 229.8 pins.  He finished in a tie for seventh and had a high game of 267.
Kody Litzen finished 30th for the Sabres after an average of 220.0 pins.  He also only had one game below 200 and bowled a 289 in his first game of the event.
Rory Clark averaged 215.3 pins to take 43rd place at the event.  Clark had a high game of 268 and just one game below 200 pins.

 

Elana Rimer narrowly missed a spot at Nationals finishing in 10th at 1,275, 212.5 average.  She had four games above 200 pins with a high game of 289.
Jazmin Koeberl nearly earned a return to Nationals finishing 11th at 1,271 pins, 211.8 average.  She opened the event with a 267 and had more than 200 pins in five games.
Brianna Clemons earned a 25th-place finish at 1,219, 203.2 average.  After a slow start, she finished above 200 in the final four games including a final game of 245.
