Marian University women’s flag football (7-3) outscored Benedictine 78-0 across two games to extend its winning streak to four.
GAME 1 (W, 32-0)
- Marian’s lone first quarter score came on a touchdown pass between freshman Holly Goodwin and Kendall Graves.
- Graves caught fire in the second, adding two more receiving touchdowns on strikes of 30 and 29 yards to break the game open.
- Freshman Anna Riley added her first career touchdown late in the second quarter on a 13-yard rush.
- Midway through the fourth, Goodwin found sophomore Nyedang Awak for a 25-yard gain to set up the Sabres in scoring range. She capped the drive with her fourth touchdown pass of the game, a strike to junior Raegan Montello, to make it 32-0.
GAME 2 (W, 46-0)
- Riley opened game two with her second touchdown of the day, coming on a two-yard run to cap a 10-play drive.
- Only 30 seconds later, junior Montello picked off a Benedictine pass and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown.
- The Sabres added two more touchdowns in the second quarter, with Goodwin tossing scores to sophomores Emily Eastham and Sofia Vizcarra to take a 27-0 lead into halftime.
- A 14-play drive to start the third resulted in another Goodwin-to-Graves touchdown, furthering the lead to 33.
- Goodwin recorded a 28-yard pick-six in the fourth, followed by a Montello touchdown rush to cap a 46-0 win and move Marian to 7-3 on the season.
GAME 1
- Marian held a 227-91 edge in passing yards, with Goodwin averaging 10.8 yards per completion.
- The Eagles picked up ten first downs, yet were held scoreless.
- Montello and Vizcarra each tallied their first double-digit tackle performances with 10 tackles apiece.
- Marian held Benedictine to 3-of-11 on third down and 1-of-4 on fourth down.
GAME 2
- Marian outgained the Eagles 293-104 in total offense, averaging 6.7 yards per play.
- The Sabres went without a punt in both games.
- Goodwin and Montello each returned Benedictine passes for touchdowns, combining for 58 return yards.
- The Sabes went 4-for-7 on point-after attempts, their most in a game this season.
- Marian has held opponents scoreless on five occasions.
