Marian University field hockey (1-0, 0-0 CFHC) used a hat trick from junior Jikke Biemans to defeat CUW 3-2 in its season opener.

- A quiet first quarter saw a lot of defense and not many offensive opportunities, leading to no scores.
- With 5:19 left in the second quarter Biemans would strike after receiving a centering pass from fellow junior Allyson Nichols to put MU up 1-0.
- This lead looked like it was going to hold heading into halftime but the Falcons found an equalizer with just 38 seconds left in the half.
- The Sabres nearly retook the lead in the first minute of the second half but a shot from Nichols would hit off the post.
- Biemans shot after a penalty-corner insertion from freshman Laura Bos in the 38th minute that got past everyone to put Marian ahead 2-1.
- The duo teamed up once more after barely keeping a ball in play along the goal line just 1:40 into the final period to give Marian a two-goal cushion.
- Concordia Wisconsin was able to make things interesting scoring with just 1:36 to play, but Marian was able to hold off the late Falcon push.

- Marian held a 22-12 edge for shots and 15-8 advantage for shots on goal. This includes a first quarter where Marian outshot CUW 5-0.
- The Sabres held a slim 9-7 edge in penalty corners with a 4-0 advantage coming in the first stanza.
- CUW had 57 fouls to 45 for Marian.
- The Sabres stay undefeated against CUW with a 6-0 record. The 2022 match-up, inaugural game for Marian field hockey, was also a season-opening 3-2 Marian win.
