Marian Field Hockey Snaps Skid with Win over Transylvania

Marian University field hockey (6-8, 1-2 CFHC) snapped a four-game skid defeating Transylvania 3-1 on the road.

  • With just 2:22 left in the opening quarter, junior Jikke Biemans was able to open the scoring.
  • This proved to be the lone tally in the first half as Marian headed into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
  • Biemans was back at it just 3:16 into the second half extending the Marian lead to 2-0.
  • Fellow junior Allyson Nichols provided a three-goal cushion to the Sabres scoring with 5:05 left in the third quarter.
  • The Pioneers ended the Marian shutout and put the final score at 3-1 scoring at the 52:23 mark.

  • Marian outshot Transylvania 11-10 in the victory and had a 10-6 advantage for shots on goal.
  • The Pioneers had a heft advantage in penalty corners by an 11-3 clip.
