Marian field hockey pulls away from CUW to finish regular season

Marian University field hockey (10-5, 3-2 CFHC) clinched the No. 3 seed for the CFHC Tournament after defeating CUW 4-0.

  • The Sabres dominated the opening half, but similarly to the first meeting, the game went into halftime scoreless.
  • Marian was finally able to break through 6:41 into the third quarter when freshman Shaelyn Klassen was able to score.
  • The 1-0 lead held into the fourth quarter before Klassen scored her second of the game 1:19 into the final stanza.
  • Fellow freshman Charlotte Touw assisted the goal and then scored a goal of her own 3:24 later.
  • Seniors Allyson Nichols and Jikke Biemans teamed up for a goal with 1:57 left to put the final at 4-0.
