Marian Field Hockey Notches First Conference Win

Marian University field hockey (5-4, 1-1 CFHC) beat Concordia Wisconsin for the second time this season by a 3-1 final.

  • Marian was able to get out to a fast start with freshman Clara Guivernau Ragghianti scoring just 2:12 into the match, assist to junior Jikke Biemans.
  • The Falcons had an answer with just 1:56 left in the opening quarter to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Biemans put Marian ahead for good 3:46 into the second quarter with an assist to Guivernau Ragghianti.
  • Just 1:13 later, Biemans was back at it with her second goal and another assist to Guivernau Ragghianti.
  • This 3-1 score held for the remainder of the game after a second half that was dominated by defense and only saw six shots between the two teams.

  • Marian doubled up CUW on shots by a 16-8 margin and outshot the Falcons 11-7 for shots on goal.
  • The Sabres had a slim 7-6 edge for penalty corners.
  • Each team had a green card with Marian being called for 61 fouls to 44 for the Falcons.
  • Marian remains undefeated against CUW after this seventh meeting all-time.
