Marian field hockey ends marathon road trip at DePauw

Marian University field hockey (6-3, 0-0 CFHC) ended an eight-match road trip falling at DePauw 3-1.

  • DePauw was able to get out to a strong start in the opening quarter and opened the scoring 7:26 into the game.
  • The second quarter was dominated by both defenses with little offensive opportunity to keep the score at 1-0 going into halftime.
  • Marian had a strong response coming out of the break and dominated the third quarter.
  • The Sabres were able to even the score 7:50 into the second half when senior Jikke Biemans scored off of a penalty corner insertion from freshman Shaelyn Klassen.
  • Despite only having two shots in the quarter, the Tigers retook the lead with 1:26 left until the fourth quarter.
  • Another defensive stanza ensued in the fourth with DePauw scoring at the 51:54 mark to put the final at 3-1.
