Marian Field Hockey Easily Handles Wooster

Marian University field hockey (3-0, 0-0 CFHC) stayed perfect on the season with a 3-1 victory over Wooster.

  • The Sabres were able to get out to a fast start when junior Allyson Nichols opened the scoring at the 7:07 mark with an assist from fellow junior Jikke Biemans.
  • Freshman Clara Guivernau Ragghianti then netted her first goal as a Sabre just 2:41 later to put MU ahead 2-0.
  • This 2-0 advantage held all the way into halftime.
  • It was Nichols again who spearheaded a strong start to the second half scoring her second goal of the game just 3:32 into the third quarter.
  • Wooster ended the Marian shutout with just seven minutes remaining in the game to put the final score at 3-1.

  • Marian ended with a 29-9 advantage for shots and 15-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Sabres outshot Wooster 13-2 in the final quarter.
  • Marian had 13 penalty corners to only three for Wooster with seven of the Sabre opportunities coming in the fourth stanza.
  • The 3-0 start to the season is the first in program history for the Sabres.
  • This was the first meeting between the two schools.
