Marian University field hockey (0-1, 0-0 CFHC) suffered a loss in its opening game of the season falling to Ohio Wesleyan 8-2.
 

• Ohio Wesleyan opened the scoring at the 3:49 mark of the first quarter.
• Marian wasted no time in answering back with a goal netted by Angelene Castro at 6:39.
• The Battling Bishops responded with another goal putting them ahead 2-1 heading into the second quarter.
• Shaelyn Klassen knotted the score at 2-2 just 36 seconds into the second quarter.
• Ohio Wesleyan controlled the run of play for the remainder of the game, however, scoring 2 goals in each of the final three quarters to set the final at 8-2.

• Ohio Wesleyan held a 27-9 advantage in shots, including a 19-4 edge in shots on goal.
• The Battling Bishops earned 14 penalty corners compared to two for Marian.
• Marian was called for 30 fouls compared to 33 for Ohio Wesleyan.
• This is the first time in program history Marian has dropped its season opener.
• Marian is 0-2 all-time against Ohio Wesleyan. 

	Emilee Clarey (0-1) had 11 saves in goal.
	Angelene Castro netted the first goal of the game for the Sabres and first of the season.
	Shaelyn Klassen scored the second goal of the game for the Sabres and also her first of the season.
