Marian field hockey advances to CFHC Tournament Semifinals

Marian University field hockey (11-5, 3-2 CFHC) defeated CUW 3-0 to advance to the CFHC Tournament Semifinals.

  • Marian couldn’t have started any better with senior Jikke Biemans scoring the opening goal just 1:13 into the action.
  • Junior Angelene Castro assisted on the goal in what was a busy day for her.
  • The same duo teamed up 3:07 into the second quarter to build the Marian lead to 2-0.
  • The 2-0 advantage held into halftime, but another quick strike put the Sabres ahead 3-0 to open the second half.
  • Sophomore Chloe Yanez was able to find an empty net with a helper from Castro 4:20 into the second half.
  • The Sabres were able to maintain this advantage the rest of the way.

  • Marian held a 12-7 advantage for shots and 10-4 edge for shots on goal.
  • Concordia Wisconsin had a 7-4 edge in penalty corners.
  • The Sabres had 53 fouls to only 43 for the Falcons.
  • Marian is now 10-1 against CUW all-time and wins the season series 2-1.
  • This is the first conference tournament victory for the Sabres in program history.
