Marian University baseball (7-5, 1-1 NACC) defeated Illinois Tech 10-2 before falling in the second game 8-3 to open conference play.

GAME 1
- The Sabres put the first three runners on of the game and it led to five runs.
- Senior Riley Palmquist had the big hit of the frame with a double that scored a run.
- Illinois Tech scored its first run of the day in the second before another big inning saw Marian pad its lead in the fourth.
- The Sabres scored three runs in the frame to build an 8-1 lead with juniors Jacob Kleemann and James Bornick each driving in a run.
- The Scarlet Hawks were able to score once in the fifth to only trail 8-2.
- Marian was able to put the game away in the seventh when senior Andrew Schroeder and junior Gus Walker each driving in a run.
- Junior Riley Richard went the distance on the mound for his second straight complete game.
GAME 2
- The Scarlet Hawks came out fast in game two hitting two home runs as part of a four-run first inning.
- Bornick answered with a home run of his own in the second and a run later in the inning off of an error saw Marian trail just 4-2.
- Another error in the fifth helped the Sabres plate a run and trail just 4-3.
- Illinois Tech was able to hold off the momentum shift hitting a home run in the fifth and plating two in the sixth to put the final at 8-3.
