Marian baseball picked seventh in NACC preseason poll

Marian University baseball received 189 total points to finish seventh in the NACC preseason poll.

MSOE was picked as a heavy favorite to win the conference receiving 325 points and 18 of the first-place tallies.  Aurora also finished above 300 points and had five first-place picks to finish second.  Benedictine received a first-place vote and had 286 points, while Edgewood had 248 points and also had a first-place tally.  Cocnordia Chicago was the final school with more than 200 points at 226, while Concordia Wisconsin followed at 194 points.  Marian and Rockford rounded out the preseason picks for the NACC Tournament with the Sabres grabbing 189 points and the Regents 164, along with the final first-place pick.

St. Norbert and Dominican were the final schools with more than 100 points at 111 and 102, respectively.  Illinois Tech at 86 and Wisconsin Lutheran at 79 followed with Lakeland rounding out the poll with 49 points.

The top eight teams in the final NACC standings will earn a spot in the NACC Tournament.  The winner of the conference tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Marian opens its season in Westfield, Ind. taking on Hope Saturday, February 21 and Wartburg Sunday, February 22.
