Marian baseball easily sweeps Dominican

Marian University baseball (13-10, 7-3 NACC) earned wins of 11-2 and 25-7 in seven innings to easily sweep Dominican.

GAME 1
  • Marian took control of the doubleheader early scoring five runs in the first inning of the day.
  • Graduate student Dylan Pease drove in the final two runs with a single.
  • Pease would drive in another un in the third to put Marian ahead 6-0 before the Sabres scored four runs in the fifth to break the game open.
  • Junior Gus Walker hit a double to drive in two runs and later scored after forcing an error on a steal of third.
  • A wild pitch in the sixth ended the Marian scoring at 11 and Dominican would end the shutout with two unearned runs in the seventh.

GAME 2

  • Just like game one, Marian put up five runs in the opening frame to take command early.
  • Walker put an exclamation point on the frame with a triple that scored two runs.
  • Marian didn’t let up putting up three runs in the second.
  • Bornick and senior Logan Rademan each drove in a run in the frame.
  • The Sabres would extend the lead to 10-0 with two in the thir.
  • Dominican would plate a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to only trail 10-2 but Marian was able to put away the game with seven runs in the fifth.
  • Senior Riley Palmquist ended the inning with a double that scored two runs.
  • The Stars were able to put up a run in the top of the sixth with a home run but Marian answered with eight more runs in the bottom half to lead 25-3.
  • Bornick drove in two more runs with a double to highlight the frame.
  • Dominican would score four unearned runs in the top of the seventh to put the final at 25-7.

Junior Riley Richard (5-0) tossed his fourth complete game of the season allowing just four hits and two unearned runs.
Junior James Bornick went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a run driven in.
Graduate student Dylan Pease drove in three runs with a single and a walk.
