  • The Wolverines were able to get out to a strong start scoring four runs in the first inning despite not recording a hit.
  • A double from senior Jacob Kleemann in the bottom half of the frame put Marian on the board, but GCC scored 10 unanswered points capped off by a seven-run seventh.

  • This was the first meeting between the two programs.

GAME 2 (W, 6-5, HOME)

  • Another slow start for the Sabres saw WIT score a pair of runs in the top half of the first.
  • Just like in the first game, Marian responded in the bottom half, however, when graduate student Riley Palmquist walked with the bases loaded to put the score at 2-1.
  • Things were quiet until the fifth where the Leopards scored to lead 3-1.
  • A big bottom of the sixth saw Marian plate four runs to take its first lead.
  • Graduate student Logan Radmean and Kleemann drove in a run each before a two-run single from senior James Bornick capped off the inning that put MU ahead 5-3.
  • The lead didn’t last long as WIT immediately tied the game in the next half inning with two runs.
  • Then in the bottom of the ninth, Marian loaded the bases without recording an out.
  • Graduate student Dylan Pease then took care of business as a pinch-hitter with a single up the middle to give Marian its second walk-off win of the spring trip.
