Marian University ACHA D3 hockey (1-9-0, 0-6-0 MACHA) dropped two tough battles with Northwestern.
GAME 1 (L, 6-4)
- Marian traded goals with the Wildcats to open the series with James Murphy lighting the lamp for the Sabres.
- The goal was assisted by Samson Hamburg and Brandon Thiesenhusen.
- Benett Luke gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead with help from Jordan Rose.
- Northwestern was able to tie the game up 2-2 before the end of the first period.
- The second period was quiet with the only score coming from the Wildcats 19 seconds into the period.
- The Sabres tied the game up 3-3 with a Roenick Vosburg goal assisted by Franklin Lund.
- The back-and-forth continued as the two teams trading goals once again.
- Kyan Anderson netted his first goal of the year with help from Luke and Thiesenhusen to bring the game to 4-4.
- Two Wildcat goals gave them the lead to close out the game 6-4.
GAME 2 (L, 4-2)
- The first period was quiet for both teams as the game was 0-0 heading into the first break.
- The Sabres opened the scoring in the second period when Bennett Luke scored on a power play assisted by Jordan Rose.
- The Wildcats managed to tie the game 1-1, 59 seconds into the third period.
- Another power-play goal, scored by Rose, was able to give the Sabres a 2-1 lead with 16:43 remaining in the game.
- Northwestern stormed back with three unanswered goals to bring the final score to 4-2.
GAME 1
- Marian was held to single digit shots each period ending in a deficit 48-24.
GAME 2
- The Sabres were outshot 62-34 but had 16 shots in the third period.
- Marian had a strong game on special teams going 2-for-4 on the power play.
- The Sabres are now 0-12-0 all-time against Northwestern.
