Ludvigsen joins Marian Sports Medicine staff

Kaley Ludvigsen has been added to the Marian University Athletic Department as an athletic trainer in the Sports Medicine department.

“I am excited to have Kaley back on campus as a full-time staff member,” said Head Athletic Trainer Kim Sorensen.  “From the time she stepped on campus as a freshman she expressed high interest in becoming an athletic trainer.  Her dedication to her education and ability to take in so much knowledge landed her a great opportunity at Aurora University.  I am overjoyed at the opportunity to now work together as professionals.  Her knowledge and support for our student-athletes is exactly what we want in our department and on campus.”

Ludvigsen graduated with her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Aurora University this spring.  During this time her studies were cut into four rotations spanning from high school athletics, collegiate athletics, and occupational health.  Her collegiate stint was at Benedictine University where she managed acute and chronic injuries in high-impact, high-performance student-athletes.  During her first rotation she spent time with Lincoln-Way West High School and during her final rotation she served Joliet Catholic Academy.

“Coming back to my alma mater as an athletic trainer is truly a full-circle moment for me,” said Ludvigsen.  “As a former student-athlete here, I know firsthand the impact a great athletic training staff can have, not only with performance, but on the overall student experience.  I want to sincerely thank the interview and hiring team for believing in me, and especially Director of Athletics Tony Draves for his trust and support. It’s also extra meaningful to join a team that includes Kim Sorensen, who played such a big role in my own time at Marian.  I’m excited to give back to the program that gave me so much!”

She is no stranger to Marian having earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Marian in 2023, while also playing on the softball team.  She also had a minor in psychology during her undergraduate studies.  While a member of the Sabre softball program, Ludvigsen played in 114 games despite her freshman season being shortened due to the CoVID-19 pandemic.  In her sophomore campaign she hit .339 earning herself a spot on the All-NACC Honorable Mention squad.

Along with her studies and playing career at Marian, Ludvigsen spent one semester with the sports medicine staff as an intern.  While monitoring the day-to-day duties of an athletic trainer, she also aided in rehabilitation and the organization of documentation during this stint.

Ludvigsen earned her Board of Certification for Athletic Training in April of 2025.
