Fond du Lac Human Resources Management Association (FDL SHRM), a program of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipients – Jenna Abitz and Theresa Hobson. Each year, individuals who are passionate about leadership, developing people, and strengthening workplace culture are encouraged to apply for scholarship funds. This year, Jenna Abitz and Theresa Hobson each received a $750 scholarship. The scholarships provide an opportunity for students committed to leadership and workforce development to gain recognition and financial support as they prepare to enter the profession.
About Jenna Abitz
Expected to graduate in May 2027 with a degree in Human Resources from Moraine Park Technical College, Jenna Abitz has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to academic excellence while balancing the demands of being both a full-time student and a full-time employee. She is an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, recognized for her academic achievement, leadership potential, and dedication to service, as well as the college’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter, where she continues to develop her knowledge of human resources, organizational leadership, employee advocacy, and professional development.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Jenna participates in community service opportunities and provides informal advocacy and support within her professional and community environments. Her coursework has included research projects focused on organizational systems, leadership practices, employee engagement, and workplace advocacy, reflecting her passion for building positive and effective workplaces. Her ability to maintain strong academic standing while working full-time exemplifies her determination, discipline, and commitment to achieving her educational and career goals.
About Theresa Hobson
Expected to graduate in 2029 with a degree in Human Resource Management from Moraine Park Technical College, Theresa Hobson is pursuing a career dedicated to helping people thrive in the workplace. Inspired by a passion for supporting others, she hopes to build inclusive, respectful work environments where employees feel valued and empowered to succeed. Theresa is particularly interested in recruitment, employee relations, and professional development, and is committed to developing the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in the field of human resources.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Theresa demonstrates her commitment to serving others through volunteer work at the New Direction Christian Church Food Pantry. As a monthly volunteer, she helps organize, stock, and distribute food to families in need while providing compassionate support to community members. Theresa’s dedication to service, combined with her professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic, reflects the qualities that will serve her well as she prepares for a career focused on strengthening workplaces and supporting employees.
