Senior Derek Lindert of Marian University men’s basketball and sophomore Jillian Traver of Marian University women’s ice hockey have been named the Sabres of the Month for February.

Traver (Beloit, Wis.) capped off an historic season with a strong month of February. She posted a 1.82 goals-against average with 170 total saves and a .939 save percentage for the month. She posted back-to-back shutouts of Trine to earn an NCHA Star of the Week award. After helping earn Marian a point in the season finale with No. 10/12 CUW, she helped lead Marian to the first postseason victory in program history in a 4-3 overtime win at LFC. Traver closed out the campaign earning All-NCHA recognition along with setting a single-season record for wins at 11. She also tied the single-season record for shutouts with four and had the second-best goals-against average in a single season at 2.34.

Lindert (Pardeeville, Wis.) ended his career with a big month and earned All-NACC Tournament recognition. He led Marian averaging 18.3 points per game for the month aided by 26 made triples. Lindert also had 14 assists and 13 steals. Marian was 7-2 on the month and he had at least 20 points in five of those games, two of which came in the NACC Tournament. Lindert spearheaded an upset of top-seeded MSOE in the semifinals scoring 21 points, all in the second half, going 4-of-7 (.571) on three-pointers. He also netted 27 points against CUW to open the NACC Tournament where he hit five triples. Along with being named to the All-NACC Tournament team, Lindert was selected as an All-NACC Honorable Mention honoree.
