Let your inner artist shine during April at the Fond du Lac Public Library

Don’t hide a love for art; let it shine during April at the Fond du Lac Public Library. From a Tiny Art Contest for all ages to adult crafting programs, there’s something for everyone this month at the library.

Create a mini-masterpiece this month for the library’s second-annual Tiny Art Contest. Starting April 1, pick up one of a limited number of free 4-inch-by-4-inch canvases from the Help Desk at the Main Library. No registration is required to receive one; all ages are invited to participate.

Submissions will be due April 25 to May 2 at the Help Desk. Pieces can be include medium or supplies (not food or perishables) but must fit the 4″x4″ canvas.

Winners will be selected in two categories: Best in Show, and Library Staff Choice. All entries will be displayed in the Langdon Divers Community Gallery from May 7 to June 1, alongside entries to the Teen Photo Contest.

Additional contest details may be found at fdlpl.org.

Not ready for the competition? Hone your skills during upcoming crafting events at the library.

Prefer to dabble with yarn? Drop into Yarn It All on Thursday, April 17 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Community Room. Bring your latest project and chat with fellow yarn crafters at the library, whether you knit, crochet, cross stitch and more. No sign up necessary; bring your own supplies.

Know an adult who loves to craft but needs to keep it simple? Register now for Explore & Make, an inclusive crafting experience on Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. in the Idea Studio. This month, explore multiple types of art one one piece of paper. Register at calendar.fdlpl.org.

Not feeling artsy? Participate in any of our book (and non-book) clubs. Programs include our new Podchat Club, where we discuss a selection of podcasts (April 8 at 5:30 p.m., no registration required); the Young at Heart Book Club that focuses on YA books (April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Discovery Room, register at calendar.fdlpl.org); the Pages & Positivi-Tea club for sustained reading and snacks (April 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room, no registration needed); or the Graphic Novel Book Club, which discusses different graphic novel formats each session (April 7 at 6 p.m. and April 26 at 11 a.m., register at calendar.fdlpl.org).
