Late score leads Marian women’s soccer to tie at Carthage

Marian University women’s soccer (1-1-2, 0-0-0 NACC) scored with only 3:06 left to tie Carthage 1-1.

  • Carthage was able to take control early in the game outshooting the Sabres 9-3 in the first 45 minutes.
  • The Sabre defense was able to stand tall, however, holding the Firebirds off the scoresheet.
  • Marian was able to bounce back in a competitive second half.
  • Despite the improved approach from Marian, Carthage was able to break the scoreless tie in the 72nd minute.
  • The Sabres took control for the final 18 minutes with a new sense of urgency.
  • Marian would manage to find its equalizer at the 86:54 mark when freshman Emily Gordillo was able to find the back of the net.
  • Neither team would manage a shot in the final 3:06 leading to the 1-1 draw.
