Late push falls short for Sabre women’s lacrosse falls short

Marian University women’s lacrosse (2-8, 1-2 NACC) was defeated by Edgewood 17-9 on the road.

  • Marian opened with a 2-1 lead after sophomore Chloe Yanez and freshman Elizabeth Van Ryzen scored goals separated by just eight seconds.
  • A second woman-up goal from Yanez with five minutes left in the first quarter put the score at 3-3.
  • The Eagles then scored five of the next six goals to take an 8-4 advantage into halftime.
  • Edgewood managed to outscore Marian 3-1 in the third quarter to take an 11-5 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • The lone Sabre goal was a woman-up score off of the stick of freshman Talia Bellotti.
  • A big fourth quarter for Yanez saw her score four times to help put the final at 17-9.
