Late goals doom Sabre men’s soccer at Benedictine

Marian University men’s soccer (3-8-2, 1-7-2 NACC) had a halftime lead but fell to Benedictine 2-1.

  • The Sabres were able to get out to a fast start with senior Giuliano Corazzina scoring his fourth goal of the season just 8:55 in, assist to freshman Hudson Shenk.
  • It was mostly a defensive battle from there with the Sabres taking its 1-0 lead into halftime.
  • The second half was much more offensive with the two teams combining for 23 shots.
  • Benedictine was able to find an equalizer with just 13 minutes left to play.
  • Marian then was forced to play a man down for the final 7:53, and the Eagles took advantage scoring the game-winner with just 1:42 left in the game.

  • The Eagles had five corner kicks to only four for Marian.
  • Marian was called for nine fouls to go with three yellow cards and one red card, while Benedictine had 12 fouls and one yellow card.
