Senior Alex Vassilakis had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Harper Krolak added 11 points and 11 assists as Marian University men’s basketball (9-8, 6-5 NACC) cruised to a 79-52 win over Illinois Tech.
 

• Marian’s first four field goals were all three-pointers, including two from Vassilakis. 
• Vassilakis pulled down six rebounds in the opening eight minutes and totaled 10 boards by halftime. 
• Freshman Max Breitenbach returned from a two-week injury absence and quickly tallied a rebound, assist, and steal within his first minute on the court. 
• A layup from freshman Marvin Haslett pushed the lead to double figures with 7:13 remaining in the first half. 
• Both Vassilakis and junior Andrew Ayeni recorded three first-half steals, helping Marian’s defense hold Illinois Tech to 19 points on 7-of-21 (.333) shooting and just two three-point attempts.
• A 10-2 start to the second half pushed the Sabres’ lead to 20.
• Sophomore Harper Krolak dished out six assists in the first eight minutes of the second half and finished with 11 for the game.
• A tip-in layup from senior Jazz Orozco capped a 10-0 run, extending the Sabres’ lead to 29 with 10:30 remaining.  
• Senior Derek Lindert hit a deep three with 4:34 remaining, marking his third of the half. 
• Marian closed the game with a corner three from senior Alex Schlichting, giving him his first points of the season.
• A 45-point second half highlighted a dominate 79-52 win for the Sabres. 

• A season-high 14 steals highlighted the Sabres’ defense, led by five from Vassilakis.
• Marian had 17 players appear in the game, matching the team-high for the season.
• The Sabres dominated in assists, 24-6 overall, including an 11-1 margin in the first half.
• Marian failed to attempt a free throw in the first half for the first time this season, but went 8-of-12 (.667) in the second half.
• The Sabres and Scarlet Hawks met for the 16th time today, with Marian leading the all-time series 13-3.
• Marian’s four-game winning streak against Illinois Tech is tied for the longest in series history.
