Kleemann, Pliner take home final Sabre of the Month honors

Seniors Jacob Kleemann and Kendall Pliner have been named the final Sabres of the Month for the 2024-25 year.

Kleemann (Green Bay, Wis.) played a large role in Marian baseball making a deep run into the NACC Tournament. Kleemann was 5-for-12 (.417) at the dish in the conference tournament leading Marian to a pair of victories. It was the first time in the NACC era the Sabres won multiple games in the postseason. He also finished the tournament with four runs driven in and a pair of runs scored. Kleemann was 2-for-4 with three runs driven in and a run scored against Benedictine in the opening game of double-elimination play. He then was 2-for-2 in an elimination game against Aurora. His season culminated in a second straight All-NACC Honorable Mention award.

Kendall Pliner • Senior • Softball

Pliner (Mayville, Wis.) finished her career on a high note after Marian qualified for the NACC Tournament. Pliner led the Sabre offense driving in five runs while going 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate. She also scored one run. Pliner was especially dominant in a doubleheader with Wisconsin Lutheran where she was 3-for-7 (.429) with two runs driven in. Then against Lakeland in the conference tournament she was 2-for-3 with a run driven in. Pliner went on to earn an All-NACC award and a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team.
