Sophomore Chelsea King of Marian University women’s soccer has been voted as the NACC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, as voted on by the athletic communication professionals of the league.
King (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) stood tall in goal leading Marian to two draws in non-conference action. She opened the week with a five-save shutout against Lawrence in a 0-0 draw. The shutout was the third of her career. She then made nine saves against Carthage allowing just one goal in another draw. Her save percentage for the week finished at 93.3 percent. Through four games this season, King boasts a 1.75 goals-against average to go with 33 saves and an .825 save percentage.

Marian opens NACC play on the road Wednesday, Sept. 13 traveling to Wisconsin Lutheran for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
